Can Lawyers Make Heaven?

a.k.a. ARE LAWYERS LIAR
First published in 2001 (148 pages) FOREWORD by Evangelist (Mrs.) Helen Ukpabio.
Can Lawyers Make Heaven? It is generally believed that Lawyers are liars, and will not stand the test at the gates of heaven. This 148 pages Christian Literature offers hope to this “condemned” sect of professionals. This mind chilling novel reveals that “the facts” which contains the lies comes from the client or litigant, and the “excuses or defenses” to offence/crime comes from our statutes and case laws; thus, the role of the lawyer is merely to present the facts and the law: if there is any lie in the facts or the law, it is not the product of the lawyer. In the words of Lady Apostle Helen Ukpabio (who wrote the foreword to this interesting book in 2001): “Lawyers definitely can make heaven if they do not call evil good nor good evil” she stressed further thus: “Lawyers must note that if they are not hypocritical about the law, and do not owe any man anything, but restores that which was wrongfully gotten, remains purged by the blood of Jesus, believes and fears the Lord, such a lawyer will definitely go to heaven.”

Christians and Politics

a.k.a. HOW IRRECONCILIABLE IS POLITICS TO CHRIST?
It is generally believed that politics is a dirty game and that, Christians are too neat to indulge or inter-meddle in the muddy and stinking waters of politics.
The author of this 459 pages Christian Literature spent closeChristians And Politics to six years, researching, and searching out the truth from the scriptures, and came to the biblical truth that politics has no problem, and not dirty whatsoever but the participants/players: “Dead flies cause the ointment of the apothecary to send forth a stinking savour” - Eccl. 10:1.
On the rationale of church officials or ministers throwing in the towel and taking to politics, the bible readily states that it is not a strange thing, afterall, even the preacher Solomon had time to play politics: “I the preacher was king over Israel in Jerusalem....” Eccl. 1:12.
God is disappointed daily that his “elect” have abandoned the administration of his estate to infidels and the brambles:
“Let the priests, the ministers of the LORD, weep between the porch and the alter, and let them say, spare thy people, O LORD, and give not thine heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the people, where is their God?” - Joel 2:17(Ps. 115:2; Judges 9:8-15)

The Nigerian Tenant

a.k.a. TENANTS ARE HUMAN BEINGS TOO!
First Published in 2007 (130 Pages) A lot of Landlords treat their tenants as though they come from bush, and not from homes. The The Nigerian Tenantauthor, as a simple, honest practitioner, have respect for every soul created by God, and a burden for tenants. Though some tenants live in people’s houses like animals, vandalising every fixture and romancing filthy environment, (refusing to pay rent and, or light bills etc), they should be treated with love, compassion and respect, as though our own relations or children. Tenants have rights too: This 130 pages text book is written in very common language for all tenants to know their rights (Not to use the knowledge to insult and fight the Landlord) but appreciate their constitutional right and their corresponding obligations. The book is beneficial to Landlords as well, because, the topics of discourse put them in their rightful position to respect their tenants (who are equally Landlords somewhere), and also to appreciate the fact that they can not be landlord all the time, since they will not carry their houses to all the towns and countries they travel to.

Doyen Bar Yesterday & Today

a.k.a. CALABAR: THE CRADLE OF LEGAL PRACTICE IN NIGERIA
First Published in 2009. The ancient city of Calabar played host for the take-off of legal practice in Nigeria. As the first colonial capital of Nigeria, Calabar was the centre of trade and a rallying point of economics, trade, business, industry and commerce. Thus, the early Doyen Bar Yesterday and Todaylawyers choose Calabar as their rallying point and settlement center for legal practice and Solicitor’s work. The first Supreme Court of the Southern Protectorate of Nigeria was situate in Calabar, and the West Africa Court of Appeal operated in Calabar. The first lawyer of Nigeria, SAPARA WILLIAMS ESQ. preferred to settle in Calabar in his early days of practice. The Lawyers from the Camerouns, Gold Coast (Ghana) Sierra Leone, etc choose Calabar as their best berth for legal practice. Apart from hosting the first seat of the capital of Nigeria, the then old Calabar produced leading first icons in many spheres of endeavour including the first inspector General of Police; the first commissioned officer of the Nigerian Army, the first Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, etc. The Author, Professor tony ukam OON, JP has a passion for Calabar assuming its rightful place in the political and historical landscape of Nigeria, thus he went extra miles to research and produce this 765 pages historical records of Legal practice in Nigeria. It is an eye opener and a resource reference for legal records about Calabar, yesterday and today.

Jurisdiction & Judicial Review

a.k.a THE POWER OF COURTS
Jurisdiction and Judicial ReviewThe statues provide the extent and scope of courts. Courts are in categories, and their powers are according to their levels. We have the village or local courts, called Customary Courts; others include Magistrate Courts, District Courts, Area Courts, Sharia Courts, High Courts, Industrial Courts, Constitutional Courts, Federal High Courts, Courts of Appeal and Supreme Court. The Superior Courts have the inherent, and unfettered statutory powers to control inferior courts and tribunals in a supervisory capacity, to keep the inferior courts within the law, within bounds and within the jurisdiction provided by law. Rapturable Convict

a.k.a. HEAVEN IS FOR EVERYBODY
First Published 2009 (91 Pages) For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men - Titus 2:11 There is hope for the hopeless. Jesus’ mission on earth was primarily to expose the crafty works of darkness, and rescue the captive from the strongman: “For the son of man is come to seRaputrable Convictek and to save that which was lost.” - LK 15:4,9. Jn3:17; Matt:15:24 “...Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool” - Isa. 1:18 Heaven is for everybody, and anybody prepared to enter: The thief on the cross settled his slot that eleventh hour and secured the heavenly ticket - LK 23:43; The prodical son wandered and squandered all but, his return secured him a red carpet reception - LK 15:29-30; God screamed on Jonah for standing on His way to save Nineveh - Jonah 4:11; Lk 15:10 The supposed saints are enjoined to be spiritually alert at all times and avoid taking their chances for granted, because, even the publicans and the harlots can sneak into heaven before the noisy and empty Christians - Mtt. 21:31; Lk 16:1-8. By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace. - Heb.11:31. According to the author, it is not the wish of God that any should perish. God is eager to have all of us in heaven..... So make yourself available to him Now.

Petroleum, Oil & Gas

a.k.a. THE LAW OF THE BLACK GOLD
This is a very rare and scarce area of Law, and it was real sweat gathering materials and case law to compile the 463 pages Law Reports. Ironically, Oil producinPetroleum, Oil and Gas : The Law of the Black Goldg countries are few in the world, yet most of them are in crisis due to the unequal share of the cake product of the oil. Nigeria is a typical example of a lopsided preference of using the riches of oil to enrich and empower strangers of the oil, and develop alien communities/towns whilst the indigenes and host communities of the oil are helplessly impoverished, abandoned, and killed (when they protest the injustice - see the case of Ken Sarowiwa & others) The oil companies in Nigeria have understudied the greed of our leaders from days of Independence, and have operated a divide and rule tactics. Thus, they are ready to spend fortune to quell the nerves of the khaki, politicians, parliament, judiciary, press, etc, whilst the host beneficiaries of the oil can go to hell. Unfortunately, this Law Reports is not history book or literature, thus the subject content is limited to the issues related to Petroleum Law: oil and gas, viz: Definition of Petroleum; Words & Phrases; History/Source; Company/Staff; Oil Terminal/Tax; Products/Operations; Occupier’s Liability; Spillage/Pollution; Damages/Compensation; Derivation/Benefits; Action/Procedure; Jurisdiction, Appeals; Petroleum Acts, etc

Sinking Sand

a.k.a. BEGGARLY ELEMENTS
First Published in 2007 (148 Pages) FOREWORD by Bishop Enebong E. Ephraim, Diocesan of the Pentecost Assemblies of the World Inc. Everybody and everythingSinking Sand man is looking up to or attempts to lean on, is equally seeking for help. Apart from our Lord Jesus Christ, every other thing on earth has expiry date or depreciation value: they are all “Beggarly elements” and “broken reed” capable of piercing through the flesh of any man that leans on it. Every helper needs help himself. Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble. He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not” Job.14:1-2, 7:1 Since “all men are hairs” - Ps.116:11 and since “Men loved darkness rather than light” - Jn.3:19, in the face of the world resting on the parameter of wickedness (1Jn.5:19) It is extremely risky to absolutely trust or anchor one’s desires, love, hope or aspiration in flesh and blood: father, mother, uncle, aunt, brother, sister, children, etc. Even our master Jesus was skeptical and careful when it comes to Man: “But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because He knew all men, And needed not that any should testify of man: for He knew what was in Man” - Jn.2:24-25 This small book, in just 148 pages vividly registers in the mind of the readers that only Jesus can not sink, only Jesus offers and gives a durable hope,.... All other ground is sinking Sand!

Intellectual and Property

a.k.a. POWER OF CREATIVITY
God is the Creator of creation and creatures, and Man,Intellectual Property made in His image, is true to type, a creative animal. Any nation or people not gifted to creativity, wallows in poverty, moreso a nation that does not respect invention, nor care for inventors. Lord Denning in the case of PACKER VS. PACKER (1984) warned that: “if we never do anything which has not been done before, we shall never get anywhere. The law will stand still whilst the rest of the world goes on: and that will be bad for both” The Editor of this 319 pages Law Reports Professor tony ukam, OON, JP joined the World’s Intellectual Inventors in 2001 as the first lawyer in the world to invent the “FOOTNOTE LAW REPORTS” and today, this inventive contribution is a resource to many lawyers and researchers across the globe. The editor, Professor Ukam is also a naturally gifted Sculptor and Artist, and has contributed his worth to the world of arts, within and beyond the shores of Nigeria since 1980 to date.

Deceiver of Self

a.k.a. LIPSTICK CHRISTAINS
Deceiver of SelfFirst Published 2002 (203 Pages) FOREWORD by The Hon. Justice James Ogebe, Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. Evil men, seducers, vain boasters, and deceivers abound in today’s world and have invaded the churches in great numbers. The Author, tony ukam, as an ardent advocate of truth, honesty and righteousness has bleeding heart towards deceit, cheat and dishonesty: that informed his write-up, a 203 pages Christian Literature, which outrightly condemned the trade of deceit and double tongue. As a frank person, he has attracted sizeable number of enemies, in a society where falsehood is placated and saluted, ours is akin to the lamentation of prophet Isaiah at chapter 59: 15 thus: “Truth faileth; and he that departed from evil maketh himself a prey....” (Cp. Gal. 4:16) The forewords to this book was written by a highly respected and honest jurist, The Hon. Justice James Ogenyi Ogebe JSC (now Justice of the Supreme Court.) Landlord and Tenant

a.k.a. RELATIONSHIP OUTSIDE THE ANCESTRAL HOME
The concept of landlord and tenant may have derived from Man’s occupation on earth, with God as the Supreme Landlord and TenantLandlord. Lawyer Jesus

This Book presents Jesus as the advocate of the oppressed, the bruised, the unfortunate, the sinners, and a Can Lawyers Make Heaven?champion of the cause of the poor and helpless who could not afford the fees or brief of hiring a lawyer (Isa. 42:22). He brakes the staff of the wicked, and the scepter of the rulers (Isa. 14:15) when his personal Assistants, friend and associates advised him to send away a woman of canaan whose daughter was grievously vexed with a devil, Jesus used that opportunity to openly declare his advocacy mission to them. Jesus stood his grounds and vehemently declared: "… I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel" – Mtt. 15:23 – 24" Jesus variously warned against despising or looking down on the down trodden, the poor or those who could not afford legal fees or medical bills in the society. The made himself very clear in Luke chapter 19:10 "For the son of man is come to seek and save that which was lost" (Mtt. 18:11) The scriptures acknowledged that Jesus Christ is our Lawyer and advocate. Jesus represents three things to a believer – a helper, advocate; the righteous one, having suffered, the just for the unjust; the atoning sacrifice for sins. "…And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world – Jn. 2:1-2"

Liars... Wanted For Employment

a.ka. ALL MEN ARE LIARS – Ps.116:11
Everyone deceives his neighbor, and no one speaks the truth; they have taught their tongue to speak lies…Jer.9:5. Indeed, Everybody is Can Lawyers Make Heaven?a Liar, but nobody accepts the name: Jesus came looking for them to give employment-(Mk1:17;Mtt.4:19),and accommodation-(Mtt.11:28;Jn.14:2). According to the psalmist, the only statement they can make in a haste without a pause, nor give a damn, is that: "…All man are liars"-Psalms 116:11; and at their best, altogether vanity-Psalms 39:5. Heaven confirmed this fact when it stated that, let the whole world be liars, but God alone is true. Jesus himself in John 3:19 added weight to this unfortunate state of man thus: "… Men loved darkness rather than light" and as such, he will not trust nor commit himself to man – Jn. 2:24-25 The Cretians were identified, even by their prophets as liars in all shades, - Titus 1:12, nevertheless, nobody in that city would apply for employment if the newspapers of the time had advertised: "Employment vacancies for Liars". The entire weight and substance of man is full of distortions, suppressions conspiracies, oppressions, deceits, lies, blackmail and wickedness – Gen. 27:35; Prov. 14:20;19:4,7; 28:24; Jer. 9:4-5; Ps. 35:19;38:19-20;51:5; 1Jn.5:19; Jn.15:25; Lam. 3:52-53, 62-63; Lk. 6:11. God hath vowed to frustrate the tokens of liars, and have placed a sword upon them – Isa.44:25; Jer.50:36, yet the market is swelling by the day, as even tattlers will start crawling, speaking lies, even when nobody taught them. Lies itself is a common vegetation on earth, and in some continents, chieftains of lies and mischief are celebrated and honored. The author has in this book made a case for liars: That though they seem prospering and living long, yet their end is in the bowl of shame, reproach and destruction – Eccl. 7:15; 8:12.

Tony Ukam Through Cases & Materials

a.k.a. THE VERDICT OF A CASE
The bible says in Luke 6:45 thus: "A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. (Mtt. 12:34; Jn. 7:38)."
A man's worth is known by his works, and a man's substance is weighed from his moments of happiness and provocations.
The author has in his lifetime been triggered to raise legal tools against his oppressors or adversaries… How far he went with such cases is suggestive of his disposition in forgiveness.
This book supplies sufficient materials for student lawyers, advocates, magistrates, judges and researchers in the area of Forms filing of processes in court; judgments/rulings, etc.
The world is a journey, let it be celebrated on values, contributions and improvements on creation, rather than on mediocrity and birthdays.
